This site runs on one writer's research and one founder's rules for sourcing a number before it gets published. Here is a bit about each of them.

Jessica Martinez

Jessica Martinez

Contributing Writer, Auto Repair Costs

Jessica covers what an AC compressor job actually costs, how to make sense of a shop quote, and what to check before deciding the whole system needs work. Her wider beat is repair costs across cars and homes, and she spends real time on calls with shops and parts counters confirming that a figure in a guide still lines up with what a shop would quote today.

She came to repair-cost writing from a local newsroom, where she learned early that a published number you have not checked is a fast way to lose a reader. She's based in the Midwest and has paid out of pocket for more than one of the repairs covered on this site, including a compressor job on her own car.

Chris Terry

Founder & Editor

Chris started this site as part of a small family of repair and home-cost calculators. He is not the one writing the guides, but he set the sourcing rules every writer follows and signs off on how the pricing model gets built. Those rules are spelled out in full on the editorial standards page.

Got a question about a specific guide, or spotted a number that looks stale? The contact page reaches a real person, and every message gets read.
